*** Most evening courses are completed in two days and both dates must be attended by the student in order to successfully complete the course. The door will be locked when the class starts, if you are late, you will have to ring the bell for entry.
Cancellation Policy
**American Red Cross Shasta Area Chapter does not refund once a customer has paid and registered for the course unless that class is cancelled. If you become ill or an emergency comes up please contact our office as soon as possible. If we do not receive a phone call 24 hours before the class there will be a rescheduling fee of $15. Our office will try to work with you in the event of an emergency.
First Aid, CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Courses
HSSFA404 Standard First Aid with CPR/AED—Adult
In addition to CPR, this course also includes training in using an automated external defibrillator (AED) on a victim of sudden cardiac arrest. Useful take-home course materials help you retain skills and serve as an excellent refresher and reference tool after training is complete. The course is updated with the latest science for first aid, CPR and emergency cardiovascular care. Course meets OSHA First Aid Guidelines.

This CPR course also includes training in using an AED on an adult victim of sudden cardiac arrest. HSSFA414 Standard First Aid with CPR/AED—Adult and Child plus CPR–Infant
Train Lay responders to overcome any reluctance to act in emergency situations and to recognize and care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants. Learn the knowledge and skills necessary in an emergency to help sustain life and to minimize pain and the consequences of injury or sudden illness until professional medical help arrives. It includes training in using an automated external defibrillator (AED) on a victim of sudden cardiac arrest and is updated with the latest science for first aid, CPR and emergency cardiovascular care. Course meets OSHA First Aid Guidelines.

HSSFA303 CPR/AED—Adult and Child plus CPR–Infant

HSSFA101 First Aid
Participants learn basic care for injuries or sudden illnesses until advanced medical care can take over. The course includes skills on handling emergency situations; basic disease transmission precautions; recognizing and caring for bleeding, wounds, sudden illness; and immobilizing muscle, bone and joint injuries. Course meets OSHA First Aid Guidelines.

Blended Learning First Aid/CPR/AED Courses
The first portion of the course, including the written exam, is online and can be taken from any computer with Internet access. The second part of the training, the skill practice and assessment, is conducted by a Red Cross instructor in a classroom setting. Red Cross Blended Learning is flexible, self-paced and available online 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Students have the option of going through the lessons in a full or abbreviated format and can test out of lessons. Web-based training enables course-takers to access courses at their convenience and minimizes schedule conflicts with work-related responsibilities. The Blended Learning approach greatly reduces the time required for recertification.
**CHILD AED- YOU MUST HAVE CHILD CPR ALREADY BEFORE REGISTRATION OR TAKE THEM TOGETHER
BLENDED LEARNING ONLINE COURSES:
The lecture and written test are on-line and you will have two weeks from the starting date specified on your enrollment form to complete the lecture portion. Once you have completed the lecture portion you must attend the skill practice /testing. At the time of registration, you will choose a date for your skill session. The skill session will last up to 3.5 hours depending on the course you are taking. You must pass the lecture /skills with an 80% or better in order to receive your certification.
**During the skills session there is no review on the lecture portion of the course.
* If for any reason you miss your skill session, you may reschedule one time only for a $15 fee. If you miss the next skill session you will forfeit your course fee and will need to pay an additional fee of $25 to re-register for a skill session.

Courses for Professional Rescuers
American Red Cross professional rescuer courses are designed for people with a job-related duty to respond in an emergency, including nurses, law enforcement, EMS personnel, fire fighters, business and industry response teams, lifeguards, flight attendants, and others who must take action in emergency situations.
HSSPRO101 CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
Combines participant’s manual, lectures and video with hands-on skills training to cover the following areas—
• Responding to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants
• Using an AED on an adult or child victim of cardiac arrest
• Using personal protective equipment to stop bloodborne pathogens and other diseases from spreading
Pocket mask is included.

Pediatric First Aid (PFA) & Preventative Health & Safety (PHS) Course
Pediatric First Aid
This course provides first aid training as required by AB243, the California Child Care Law. It includes patient examination and injury assessment, emergency systems orientation, recognition, and treatment of first aid emergencies, and more. Asthma inhaler can be added to this lesson to the first aid and is designed to help individuals learn how to correctly administer an asthma inhaler to a person who is having an asthma attack. This course EMSA approved and provides the EMSA sticker.

Preventative Health & Safety
This course meets the California Sate requirement for health and safety training for child care workers. Subject matter includes preventing disease transmission, taking care of the ill child, and other health and safety precautions related to the child care setting.

Prerequisites: We recommend you take CA Child Care- Pediatric First Aid prior to taking this class. Please bring your book from CA Child Care First Aid and CPR Skill Card to this class.
